| Aside from DIVORCE MEDIATION, we offer the following services: |
 |
PARENT-TEEN DISPUTES:
We mediate parent-teen disputes such as complying with curfews, rules regarding the use of drugs and alcohol, meeting family responsibilities and associating with friends.
INTRA-FAMILY DISPUTES:
Intra-Family disputes are disputes between family members such as siblings, parents and children, parents and grandparents and children and grandparents. Intra-family disputes include, but are not limited to, parenting styles, economic issues, relocation issues, and household and pet management.
PROBATE DISPUTES:
Probate disputes often arise when a family is dividing the property of a deceased family member. For families who choose to participate in the mediation process, the estate is typically settled much more expeditiously than in litigation.
ELDER MEDIATION:
Elder Mediation encompasses the difficulties encountered when parents move in with their children, i.e. care giving, respecting each other's privacy, transportation, bill paying, and whether elderly people should continue driving.
SAME SEX COUPLES:
We are sensitive to the needs of same sex couples and mediate separation agreements, custody matters, comprehensive parenting plans, child support issues, as well as any other issues that may arise. |
 |
BILINGUAL MEDIATION:
We are able to mediate in Spanish with simultaneous translation in English if desired. We are also comfortable mediating with an interpreter who speaks the language of your choice.
WORKPLACE:
We mediate disputes among co-workers and between employees and their supervisors.
POST-JUDGMENT:
Once a judgment of divorce is final, we can mediate changes to the separation agreement, if agreed upon by both parties.

COMPREHENSIVE PARENTING PLANS:
We tailor parenting agreements to meet the unique needs of each family. The parenting agreements detail all aspects of post-divorce parenting, including but not limited to:
- Legal and Physical Custody of Children
- Regular Weekly Parenting Time Schedule
- School Holidays
- Summer Vacations
- Extracurricular Activities
- Religious Activities
- Camp
- Birthdays
- Travel Within and Outside the United States
- Eedical Issues and Hospital Visitation
- Education (Public or Private)
- College and Graduate School
- Relocation
- Access to Any and All Information Regarding the Children
SEPARATION AGREEMENTS:
The goal of divorce mediation is to help the parties reach an agreement which, once signed, becomes a binding contract and an integral part of their judgment of divorce. The separation agreement addresses all issues relating to the dissolution of their marriage, including, but not limited to:
- Property Distribution
- Tax Considerations Division of Assets
- Division of Debts
- Marital Residence
- Maintenance (Spousal Support)
- Life Insurance
- Health Insurance
- Custody
- Parenting Plans
- Child Support
- College Expenses
UNCONTESTED DIVORCE PAPERS:
After the parties reach an agreement in mediation and sign the Separation Agreement, either the mediator or one of the review attorneys drafts uncontested divorce papers for submission to the Court. These papers include the judgment of divorce. Once a Judge signs the judgment of divorce and it is entered in the County Clerk's office, a divorce becomes final.
CONSULTING ATTORNEY:
In cases where neither Emily Jonas, Esq. nor Susan Herzog, Esq. are mediators, either one of us may be retained to provide legal advice on an as-needed basis for one party to the mediation. As consulting attorneys, we advise parties of their legal rights, address their concerns and guide them on the pros and cons of any proposed settlement. Most importantly, we will review any separation agreement and recommend changes, where applicable, before it is signed.
COLLABORATIVE DIVORCE*:
Each party to a collaborative divorce retains an attorney for settlement purposes only. Collaborative attorneys are trained to represent their clients and assist them to resolve matrimonial issues fairly and without going to court. The parties and their attorneys sit down together and work out the details of the agreement. Other divorce professionals such as coaches, financial neutrals, and child specialists can participate in the collaborative process, if desired by the parties.
*This service is offered by Emily S. Jonas, only.
